I was retelling the story fakapaheke. This is a dual-language book but the teacher only read the Tongan story. It was really fun listening to and reading the Tongan story. We were able to discuss the story using the pictures and making connections with something that we know and listening and seeing words that we hear at home but finally can see the words. Love listening to and reading the Tongan story.
Fakapaheke
On a bright sunny day, Alo and his family decided to go to the park so that he could have fun. He also wanted to impress his dad, Today was
the day that dad took a day off from work since he is always busy.
After that Alo wanted to go on a silver and green slide.
Since Alo was in a wheelchair he stood up with his Mum’s help so he could get on the slide. Alo started to pull himself up the slide,
Once he was up the slide he was sliding down on his stomach.
Alo needed help turning around so he asked his parents to help him turn around. Dad told Alo to hold on tightly, then dad flipped him over.
Alo started to slide down but this time he was sliding
on his back and when Alo got down his parents were so proud of him.
In the end, Alo and his brother Sami went down the slide together. Although Alo was in a wheelchair he still got to play on the playground.
Alo enjoyed his day at the playground also spending time with his family.
