Explanation about Climate change by Vaimoana

I am learning to write an explanation. I understand that explanation is written in  third person, a non-fiction/facts and written in presentence. It is kind of hard because you have to search for the facts before you could write an explanation but because we read about it and it was also our focus so it looks a bit easier.

How is Climate Change affecting our world?

Climate is what you expect and the weather is what you get. The average weather conditions in a particular region/area in a long period of time. Climate change is causing more frequent and intense droughts, storms, heatwaves, rising sea levels, and warming oceans can directly harm animals, intense tsunamis, earthquakes and flooding.

Firstly, the greenhouse effect is a natural process that collects energy coming from the sun. Some of this type of energy is being trapped by gases in the atmosphere, that is called ‘Greenhouse Gases’. The greenhouse gases that are the most important include Carbon dioxide, Methane and Nitrous Oxide. The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been rapidly increased. The carbon dioxide levels have gone higher than before, Lots of heat is being trapped which is causing our earth to be warmer and this is all caused by people.

Secondly, the reason why climate change is happening is because of people. Humans have been burning fossil fuels, burning coal which releases greenhouse gases especially carbon dioxide. Since there is carbon dioxide inside trees people decide to cut down and release more carbon dioxide into the world, that is called deforestation. Humans think that forests are more effective at doing it than they thought.

Thirdly, one impact of climate change is that people can right now till this day can see the rising sea levels. As the water temperature gets warmer it expands and takes up more space. Rising sea levels of water are already a huge challenge in low-lying countries such as Bangladesh where lots of floods are happening during strong storms and even the Pacific Islands like Kiribati are losing their homes to the wider ocean and most of them moved to New Zealand as refugees.

Lastly, climate change describes a change in average conditions such as temperature and rainfall. In a region over a long period of time these include warming temperatures and as well as the effects of earth’s warming such as rising sea levels and more frequent storms.

To conclude my explanation of climate change is a challenge globally. It affects the climate drastically because of our human activities. The planet is getting warmer and warmer which causes the ice melting and sea levels to rise, more frequent strong cyclones, earthquakes and more rainfall and New Zealand is experiencing a shortage of water.
